I'm not dumb enough to pretend this is going to go away,” Ryan Braun said after winning his appeal of a positive drug test and avoiding a 50-game suspension. Indeed, Dino Laurenzi Jr., who collected Braun's urine sample, was just as forceful...

Corey Hart has a meniscus tear in his right knee that will require surgery and will be out 3-4 weeks. That covers most of Spring Training and it would seem that he will start the season on the Disabled List.  This is the second straight season that Hart will miss most of Spring Training and likely start the season on the DL. Last season a rib cage sprain sidelined him. Though the recovery time fr...

Hey folks, sorry I haven't posted anything here about Braun, but I've been in charge of coverage over at BrewCrewBall.com. Head over there for a post summarizing the press conference, as well as a (large) collection of links about the verdict. Make sure you check back, as there will be another collection of reactions to the press conference as well. And join the conversation. You won't find a smar...

edit: added a new Marquette article from SI published today   I've been reading some really good stuff lately, so I wanted to pass on the links...   Marquette's basketball team has been getting a lot of ink lately. Folks are expecting them to do big things in the Big East and NCAA tournaments. This NBC Sports article says they're a sleeper pick to make it to the Final Four. I can't find it anymo...

The Brewers acquired relief pitcher Jose Veras from the Pirates this offseason in exchange for Casey McGehee. Unfortunately for the Brewers, Veras was immediately arbitration eligible. Veras submitted $2.37million, the Brewers put his value at $2 million and in yesterday's arbitration hearing, the Brewers won. The Brewers are now 3-2 in arby hearings since 2005. This is an unusual way to start a t...

Ok, so its just an idea being floated by one Yankees blogger, but its so ridiculous that I had to share it. Read his whole post here. However, despite the fact that this is such a pipe dream, it doesnt really help the Yankees' reputation of poaching and buying every good player out there. I can't even say on the market, since the Brewers have Braun signed through 2020. Losing Prince Fielder s...

Former Cub (among many other teams) Corey Patterson, who had a brief stint in Milwaukee in 2009, is apparently back with the Brewers - this time signing a minor-league contract. In 2009, Patterson played 11 games and got just 15 plate appearances. So far the contract doesn't include a Spring Training invite. Patterson on the team was something of a joke in 2009, so its probably bordering on comica...

This picture makes me so happy and it's the one I hoped for when it was announced that former hockey player Nyjer Morgan was going to spend some time skating with the San Jose Sharks. Former Badgers and Stevens Point native Joe Pavelski is a Shark. Here the Wisco worlds collide. The rest of the pictures aren't as fun for me, but there is a full gallery here: http://www.mlb.com/photos/gallery....

Apparently a young fan wrote to the Brewers and lamented to them that he could never come see the team play at Miller Park because of his extreme allergy to peanuts. So the Brewers have decided to offer a few games with "peanut controlled" seating to accomdate this young fan and others like him. The release doesn't give much information on how the control will be implemented, since it will only be...
