The Brewers had two first round and one sandwich round pick in the first day of the MLB Draft and decided to go for big power bats to supplement the somewhat thin minor league system. After last season's focus on pitching in the early rounds, the Brewers went with high schooler Clint Coulter and college bat Victor Roache with the 27th and 28th pick. Last year former Cardinals manager Tony LaRussa complained about everything from the Miller Park roof to the ribbon board and now he's got a comrade in arms. Giants manager Bruce Bochy blamed his team's first-inning errors on the bright sun that cut across the left side of the infield. He blamed the partially closed Miller Park roof. The Brewers have taken to partially closing the right side of th...

In a move that many hoped they'd make, the Brewers claimed former Arizona Diamondback Cody Ransom off waivers. Ransom hit .269 with four homers and 13 RBI while with the Diamondbacks and is a  career .226/.310/.409 hitter over 248 major league games.  Since Alex Gonzalez went down, the Brewers have been woefully thin at SS. The .250 batting average might not be imp...

After the 2008 season, the Brewers ended their contract with the single-A West Virginia Power and moved their low-A affiliate team to Appleton and the Wisconsin TimberRattlers. The TimberRattlers had been Seattle's A team since 1993, but there's a history of minor league baseball in Appleton that dates back to 1958. Prior to their four years in West Virginia, the Brewers A affiliate had been the...
