Deadspin has their NLDS preview up. It's written by avid Cards fan Will Leitch and contains this gem: 6. The Brewers Aren't Particularly Likable. You have to be happy for Brewers fans, who have waited 26 years for a return to the postseason. But you don't necessarily have to like this team, which, in the opinion of this Cardinals fan, have taunted, showboated and chest-pounded to a rather...

Over at Brewed Sports they unearthed a possible conspiracy theory on a Cubs fanboard that basically suggests the Cubs should play their hardest against us in order to prevent us from reaching the playoffs, thereby lowering our monetary intake and creating a payroll problem for us in the future.Poster DannyNoonan doesn't mind the theory, since it involves a team playing their hardest, which you can...

Brew Crew Ball linked to RotoWorld who is reporting that David Riske is out for the season as he is having surgery to remove a bone spur from his elbox. This seems to have come out of nowhere in terms of the injury, but it's a bit of a loss for the bullpen....

Jerry Crasnick has a list of players that were supposed to impress this season, but have failed to make the grade.#7 on the list is Rickie Weeks: Rickie Weeks, Brewers (.233 with 12 homers) Weeks was hyped as a 2008 breakout candidate after a torrid finish last season. Now that it's mid-September and he has a lower OPS than Akinori Iwamura, let's scratch that prediction. The Brewers are scramblin...

One of the most interesting storylines to come out of the firing is the reaction of the players and the insight it's giving us into how the dugout has been. The quotes come from this story on Brewers.com JJ Hardy, for instance, said it took him a couple of years to warm up to Ned, but that lately he'd seen an improvement: "This year, I thought he was doing a lot better job of being relaxed,...

Ned's comments to the media today did nothing but raise more questions about the whole firing situation. Mark A. had said that he asked Ned for reasons and solutions for the most recent slide and when Ned had none, he was dismissed. Today, Ned said that he was told he was dismissed the second he walked into the room and the questions were asked after that. Mark A intimated that Ned's answ...

The prayers of many Brewer fans were answered a few minutes ago when the story broke that the Brewers fired manager Ned Yost and promoted third base coach Dale Sveum to interim manger. Ted Simmons, who had been the bench coach, was moved to an "advisory role" according to the report on jsonline.com.The move is frankly more than a little surprising so late in the season and the move may be consider...

One is a screen cap of the Brewers homepage announcing the firing, the other is the email that was sent to those of us on the Brewers mailing list. Both aren't exactly the most attractive pictures of Ned. I also enjoy the oh-so-tactful headline of "Yost relieved of managerial post."...
