The monument goes mostly unnoticed as baseball fans stream toward Miller Park. The three stone tablets face away from the main walkway to the stadium, and many of the names inscribed there mean nothing to folks under 50 anyway. That’s a shame, because they are part of a team...

Warning, mini-rant ahead:I’ll admit to being crotchety at times at Miller Park. I’m not “you kids get off my lawn,” but I do expect to be able to see the game I paid to see. I don’t think this is too much to ask. I admit to being grumpy on occasion and there are times when my patience is a little thin, but for the most part, I think I’m pretty accepting. But I also think that your enjoy...

The Fairly Detached Observers

The Brewers passed the season’s 50-game milestone Sunday with a 5-2 victory that completed a sweep of Cincinnati. The Observers were on hand, and marking a milestone of their own. Artie: Three hours and three minutes for that game. Nowhere near my ideal of 2:24, or the 2:36...

Most would agree that surgery, auto repair and law enforcement are best left to professionals. Some might choose to add sports to this list, and for those who prefer to watch rather than do, Milwaukee serves up professional spectator sports year round. Enjoy a brat bedaubed in Secret Stadium Sauce along with a beer or two and cheer on the Major League Baseball Milwaukee Brewers at Miller Park, one of the finest places to view a ballgame in the nation. Even if the weather outside is frightful, with Miller's retractable roof, every day's a great day for a ballgame...

Tonight @ Miller Park, 7:05 p.m.

After a three-game home series earlier this week that saw the Milwaukee Brewers taking down the Pittsburgh Pirates like Barack Obama took down those real pirates a couple weeks back—sorry, we’re running out of analogies—the Milwaukee Brewers enter tonight’s home series against the Diamondbacks with their first winning record of the season. Here’s hoping they can keep the hot streak going.

This Week in Milwaukee

Thursday, April 9, Brandi Carlile @ The Pabst Theater, 8 p.m. Like so many of her adult-contemporary peers who owe much of their name recognition to appearances on the “Grey’s Anatomy” soundtrack, Brandi Carlile plays melancholic but melodious folk-pop. She distinguishes herself, though, with an unusually...

It’s not just beer and brats

There isn’t a city in the country that tailgates with the unrelenting loyalty and passion of Milwaukee and its Brewers fans. Devoted parishioners of the almighty Church of Baseball regard tailgating as a rite of passage, where the uninitiated are prohibited from calling Milwaukee home until they have knelt before a...

A new deal between Summerfest and Miller Park could mean more giant concerts at the baseball stadium. From the AP article: MILWAUKEE (AP) -- More musicians may be able to rock Miller Park after the Milwaukee Brewers announced a deal Thursday to solicit musical acts for the 41,900 seat venue. Brewers Enterprises has agreed to a multi-year deal that will allow Summe...
