This picture makes me so happy and it's the one I hoped for when it was announced that former hockey player Nyjer Morgan was going to spend some time skating with the San Jose Sharks. Former Badgers and Stevens Point native Joe Pavelski is a Shark. Here the Wisco worlds collide. The rest of the pictures aren't as fun for me, but there is a full gallery here: http://www.mlb.com/photos/gallery....

The last three NCAA attendance records have been set by Wisconsin Women's Hockey. They set it at the Camp Randall outdoor game in 2010 with 8,263 in attendance. They set it again at least year's fill the bowl with 10,668. And they broke their own record once again Saturday night as 12,402 people paid to see them beat Bemidji State 1-0. Those numbers are astounding when you realize that the Badgers...

Former University of Wisconsin Athletic Director John Chadima resigned in January after being put on administrative leave following what was termed "embarrassing actions" at a party involved with the football team's trip to the Rose Bowl over New Year's. However, the details of the situation remained private until now. Apparently Chadima got drunk and grabbed the genitals of a male subordinate. Th...

Ealier this evening Andy Baggot, the Badger hockey beat writer for the Wisconsin State Journal/Madison.com tweeted that an outdoor hockey game between the Wisconsin Badgers and the Minnesota Gophers at Soldier Field in Chicago was a possiblity being discussed. I think I’ve mentioned this before, but I once wrote an opus of a post about Wisconsin women’s hockey and why it’s worth your time and the post disappeared into the depths of blogging cyberspace. It really was a couple-thousand word epic, so maybe its best that its gone, but I’ve had a hard time sitting back down and trying to recreate it. I feel like I won’t be able to give it what i...

Earlier in the week it was widely reported that Nick Toon had suffered an unspecified injury to his already surgically-repaired left foot. Reports said that the injury was significant. Toon is in LA training, preparing to enter the NFL Draft. But this evening Toon tweeted that he is fine and the injury to his foot is a minor one. He even said he'd be back to training by next week already....

This season, the Wisconsin Badger women's hockey team is 19-1-0. They have just one loss - to rival Minnesota - and have not tied a game. They lost just twice last season and tied twice as well. But both the losses came in 2010. Their schedule is open until the new year. That means that in the entirety of the year 2011, the Badger women's hockey team lost just one game. ONE GAME. Over the cours...

With reports that Montee Ball would be the sixth-ranked running back and 80th overall in the NFL draft (meaning a mid-third round pick), he has reportedly told people within the football program in Madison that he will return to Wisconsin for his senior season. The Wisconsin State Journal/Madison.com says they have a source with that information. Yesterday, it was said Ball would hold a press conf...

Adidas earlier announced that the Badgers would be wearing special uniforms for the Rose Bowl. Because they are the "away" team for the game, the Badgers will be wearing white jerseys. A jersey has been being sold at various outlets for the past 10 days or so, but no confirmation came from UW that these were, in fact, the special jerseys. UW confirmed it today. The white jerseys with red letters f...

It's not an exaggeration to call the University of Wisconsin NHL University. There are 20 former Badgers currently skating in the NHL. 11 former Badgers played in last season's playoffs - more than any other college. One of the Badgers who has struggled to gain a foothold is former goalie and Hobey Baker finalist Brian Elliot. Drafted by Ottawa, he had a few chances, but never really earned the st...
