I'm not dumb enough to pretend this is going to go away,” Ryan Braun said after winning his appeal of a positive drug test and avoiding a 50-game suspension. Indeed, Dino Laurenzi Jr., who collected Braun's urine sample, was just as forceful...

The list of of Patty Kazmaier finalists was narrowed down to 10 today and two Badgers made the list. Hilary Knight and Brianna Decker are both named to the Top 10 list. This is Hilary's third time on the Top 10 list. Despite the fact that her senior year numbers probably aren't as great as we all would have hoped, for me there's no one on this list that compares to Hilary. Over on the discussion b...

This season, the Wisconsin Badger women's hockey team is 19-1-0. They have just one loss - to rival Minnesota - and have not tied a game. They lost just twice last season and tied twice as well. But both the losses came in 2010. Their schedule is open until the new year. That means that in the entirety of the year 2011, the Badger women's hockey team lost just one game. ONE GAME. Over the cours...

Monty Ball said today that he plans to submit paperwork to the NFL advisory committee to gauge his place in the upcoming NFL draft. Ball says that if the committee tells him that he's a likely first or second round pick, he will leave Wisconsin early and enter the NFL draft. If the committee comes back with any round lower than that, Ball says he will return to school for his senior year. Things h...

It took entirely too long for him to get the recognition he deserved, partyly because of an ill-fated push to get Russell Wilson in the top-5, but Montee Ball finally got the nod as one of the Top 5 Heisman finalists today. Ball is one touchdown away from trying Barry Sanders' record for the most touchdowns scored by any NCAA football player* Despite the fact that Ball won the Big Ten Running Back...

There are many criticisms that are being rained down on Bret Bielema and the Badgers after last night's loss to Michigan State. The time management issue is a big one and a lot of people will talk about it, so I'm not going to spend a lot of time on it. I'll address the time management at the end of the blog post. Bret Bielema's post-game excuse for calling the timeouts during Michigan State's fin...

Well if you ask the St. Louis Cardinals, the Brewers are brash, cocky, mean and generally disrespectful of all things baseball. But in the SI.com player poll that was released last week, Chris Carpenter and Albert Pujols were ranked the seventh and eighth meanest players, while Nyjer Morgan was ranked ninth and Prince Fielder was ranked 13th. The poll was taken of 215 other major league baseball...

The Marquette Tribune did an interesting article on what it takes to be a walk-on for the basketball team. It was so well done that it spawned a post on ESPN.com's College Basketball Nation blog. Marquette help walk-on tryouts following the graduation of uber-walk-on Rob Frozena. He's Marquette's only ever four-year walk-on. Frozena was a fan-favorite and the student section went nuts whenever he...

Marquette leaked some new uniforms a couple of weeks ago. They had managed to avoid the Nike curse of uniform ridiculousness for so long, but it has finally made its way to Milwaukee. Nike first used the Aerographics in the 2008 Olympics. They say the burnout mesh allows for better ventilation and that the jersey weighs 31% less than previous models. The first schools to get Aerographics, in 2009,...
