A 24-year-old Milwaukee rapper with a fleet tongue and a Drake-esque sing-song flow, M-Nat released his debut album, DreamCity: The Patience, last week. Like most debut albums, from rappers or otherwise, it's a bit rough around the edges, and it can't completely disguise what must have been a fairly modest production budget. But there's clear promise here, nonetheless: M-Nat has strong pop impulse...

It was only a half a decade ago that keeping up with the latest Milwaukee mixtapes would have required regular trips to the Milwaukee Mall or Teutonia Ave, but these days most any mix worth hearing ends up online for free—and, to be sure, the city's recording plenty of mixes worth hearing these days. "I want to puke, I want to kill myself... my body hurts." While most of his IHEARTCOMIX peers keep their music willfully chipper, the mer...

To say Haz Solo is ambitious is an understatement. Last year, the Milwaukee rapper and producer unveiled his plans to release a whooping 16 albums/mixtapes of material, and though it seems he'll fall short of that insane goal, he's nonetheless made impressive progress. HAZ SOLO>, his latest release, available for free download on his Myspace page, is the best I've heard from him yet. ...

Here's one for the ick department. This weekend I (and, judging by the CC list, dozens of other members of the Milwaukee media) received an e-mail with the subject line "Rapper Kills himself." It contains a link to a YouTube video that purportedly shows a Milwaukee rapper committing suicide, and with all the tact of a spam penis-enlargement ad, it concludes, "please this video is disturbing...
