From Scout.com via Trenni's Twitter feed comes some stories about J. Maymon’s father’s over-the-top antics and ridiculous demands and over-involvement in his son’s college career. Everyone saw his outrageous displays by a parent ever. Rumors are that members of the coaching staff told him to cool it and he ignored them and the MU big wigs were not happy. According to Scout:So Tim Maymon show...

Marquette just set a Big East tournament record by holding St. Johns to just 10 points in the first half of their game today. MU went to the locker room leading 38-10.It's all the more impressive when you realize that Jerel McNeal played just 9 minutes in that half and had just 3 points. Even if he plays all 20 second half minutes, it will be his lowest minutes all season....

No one expected Marquette to win all five of their final games with the brutal schedule they faced, but no one expected them to lose all five, either. I was hoping for two wins - one against Syracuse and one upset among the big four other teams. Is there anyone out there who expected the loss of Dominic James to have this much of an impact? Of all the guys on the floor, I would have imagined his ro...

Tonight’s match up has got to be the biggest games Marquette has played since the 2003 Final Four.UConn comes to town with a nine-game undefeated streak on the road while Marquette has a 17-game home winning streak. Obviously, something’s going to have to give.Marquette is the Big East’s most prolific scoring team while UConn is the league’s best defense.Working against Marquette is the fa...

Marquette has never sold out a weekday game.On Wednesday, February 25th, they hose #2 UConn. There are currently less than 1,000 tickets left for sale and MU Athletics want to make sure that the Huskies know what it's like for Marquette to have home-court advantage. So much so that they've made a website with a pretty cool video on it.Check it out here....

The one downside to having DirecTV is that Marquette games are often broadcast on the Time Warner Channel. However, I did get the old-time fun of listening to the game on the radio, which puts you in a total different mindset for "watching" a game. There have been those that have claimed that Marquette is a fluke because they haven't "beaten anyone," but once again, the Golden Eagles came back from ...

My assignment was to give five questions for this Marquette team as they head into the meat of their conference schedule. The questions are supposed to help determine if the Golden Eagles can make a definitive run deep into the NCAA Tournament. The thing is, there aren’t five burning questions this team needs to answer—there’s just one. Can they keep it up? Or, more specifically, will ...

I listened to Saturday night's Marquette basketball game on the radio driving home from a Badger hockey game in Madison. We'd been checking the score on the cell phone and when MU was down 13 points early on, I had little hope in the Golden Eagles' chances. Marquette was 0-4 at Providence in their years in the Big East and their lack of size has kept them from keeping teams in check. The Friars we...

You know when watching the Golden Eagles play this season that you're going to see Jerel McNeal, Wesley Matthews and Dominic James make great plays. But who are Pat Hazel and Jimmy Butler? Most of the non-conference games this season have been shown on the Time Warner Channel, so my Direct TV loving household is woefully behind on MU bball. I had no idea who these guys are, but I was pretty impresse...

Marquette had an absolutely awful shooting performance last night, from free throws to 3-pointers. Thank goodness they out-rebounded Seton Hall 56-37, including 25 offensive boards. Lazar Hayward was one offensive shining star as he collected his fifth double-double of the season with 15 points and 10 rebounds. The big story of the night, however, was the spectacular defense of Jerel McNeal. He wa...
