According to Adam McCalvy, "Suppan, the veteran right-hander released by the Brewers on Monday, is close to finalizing deal with the Cardinals and could join the team this weekend in Phoenix. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch first reported that the parameters of a deal were in place, and Suppan's agent, Scott Leventhal, confirmed it to MLB.com. " From what I'm reading, they've agreed to terms but do...

With his $10 million contract hanging around our necks, Doug Melvin and Mark Attanasio seemed to be hoping for a miracle resurgence from Jeff Suppan this season. When it didn't happen, they didn't seem to know what to do with themselves - or him. Already stuck paying for Braden Looper and Bill Hall's contract while they're no longer on the team, the Brewers seemed loathe to admit to another wrong ...

I was out camping for Memorial Day and missed a bunch of transactions for the Brewers.   The biggest news is the return of Chris Capuano, who hasn't pitched in the major leagues since September 2007. He has had two Tommy John surgeries and showed some good pitching in the minors. He will be getting the start on Thursday for the Brewers.   Manny Parra was moved back to the bullpen.   Nashville p...

The Brewers were so hard up for bench players tonight that pitcher Yovani Gallardo was used as a pinch hitter in the 7th inning. Some of the pressure of that situation will be alleviated when Carlos Gomez rejoins the team from the 15-day DL. Not only does his re-entering the lineup give Ken Macha more options, but he's a right-handed bat to face the pitching staff the Brewers will see in Minne...

Gregg Zaun left tonight's game when it looked like a pitch hit his finger. Turns out he has a shoulder strain. This is likely the same injury that caused all those poor throw-backs to the mound way back on April 26. Not sure why he's just now taking time for it to heal if it was an issue almost a month ago. Less sure if that's on him for pretending it's ok or on Macha for pretending it wasn't happ...

... and his 97 mph fastball and his creepy, creepy mustache.   Word is the mustache won't be around too long - the story I heard was that he was growing the mustache until he got to see his wife again. He hasnt seen her since Spring Training and she should be in Milwaukee when the Brewers come home. To give you his background (from Wikipedia): Axford was drafted by the Cincinnati Reds in the 42nd...

Media, Corruption and Lies

Lately, sports fans have been given many reasons to suspect the worst about the games they love. Between athletes who get away with murder, club owners blackmailing cities to build new...

Doug Davis was scratched from his start for the Brewers tonight due to the inflammation of the lining around his heart.   According to reports, he had chest pains yesterday that he initially treated as heartburn but when it didnt get better, he Googled his symptons and headed to the hospital, afraid he was having a heart attack. Several tests later, the doctors had no answer and Davis was getting...

I spoke to a Braves blogger and we exchanged questions about our squads. Here's my answers to his questions that are posted at TalkingChop.com 1. The Brewers will come into the series with a record of 15-16. What has gone right and what has gone wrong in 2010? This team is extremely inconsistent. It feels as though it's either go big, or don't go at all. This is a team that scored 26 runs...

You may remember last Monday night when Gregg Zaun was having difficulties throwing the ball back to pitcher Yovani Gallardo. It was later reported that Zaun was having shoulder spasms and therefore had little feeling in his harm. A quick treatment between innings solved the problem and the story probably should have gone away, except the situation got major press play and poor Zaun's pathetic thr...
