Apparently the Brewers really are as loose a clubhouse as the media has been reporting all season. Because today they decided that when in Texas... So they apparently went in groups to buy boots, belt buckles and the whole caboodle to dress as cowboys for their trip from Houston to St. Louis. According to MLB.com writer Adam McCalvy, in 2001 the Brewers did a similiar thing after sweeping the Cubs...

The Cardinals completed a sweep of the Brewers yesterday in spectacular fashion, as Albert Pujols, who the Brewers had really held in check over the season series until this point, went 4-for-4 with 5 RBI and two home-runs - including a third-inning grand slam that put the game out of the reach of the Brewers. Thursday's game featured a leadoff home run from Rafeael Furcal (who's hit 5 HR all seas...

The rumors have said that the Brewers wouldn't be expanding the rosters too much once rosters expand to 40 players on September 1. They weren't kidding. The Brewers called up just three players - and that's really being generous, since one of the call-ups is Carlos Gomez. The other two are OF Logan Schafer and C Martin Maldonado. Just a day after Ron Roenicke explained that he left struggling hitt...

After saving all three of this weekend's games, John Axford became the 2nd Brewer ever to record 40 saves in a season. Axford is in just his second season as the Brewers closer and baring some ridiculousness, should be for at least a few more years. At this point, he is fifth on the Brewers all-time save list - after less than two seasons. He is just fourteen saves away from tying for third place ...

Having won 22 of their last 26 (yes, they've had just four losses in the month of August), the Brewers are undeniably the hottest team in baseball. It seems unlikely the team can keep up this torrid pace, though we did say that when they started this streak with an 8-1 homestand. Of course, in the three weeks since, they have kept it up. But should fans worry that this crazy stretch comes in Augus...

If the standings stay as they are, the Brewers will be the #2 seed in the National League for the playoffs. As announced by MLB, round one of the NLDS playoffs will take place on October 1st.  "Both National League Division Series begin on Oct. 1. Four games will be played on that Saturday, all in a row, a possibility of baseball from roughly 1-to-1 ET." If we're lucky, and because the Brewers ...

Now we're really getting somewhere with this baseball season! And not just first place, where the Brewers may have settled in for good. That's nice, but Milwaukee also has gained something every fan base...

ESPN's Steve Berthiaume seems to think so. Axford has already notched 31 saves this season and would seem to be on pace to break Francisco Cordero's season record of 44 saves, which he did in 2007. Axford had a rough April and his ERA was near 9. He blew 2 of 5 saves early and things were looking pretty bleak. Since then, he's set a team record of 27 straight saves and lowered his ERA to about ...

As the trade deadline looms, JS' Tom Haudricourt reports that Doug Melvin is working the phones, even on off days, trying to see what the market is like. Most fans are expecting the Brewers to be looking for a replacement short stop for Yuniesky Betancourt. Sometimes called the worst player in the majors, Yuni's poor defense has been much maligned this season. Add the struggles of Casey McGehee an...

Three years ago the Brewers reached the playoffs thanks to the bold trade that gave them a three-month “rental” of pitching ace CC Sabathia. Last week general manager Doug Melvin went for a short-term jackpot again, acquiring star closer Francisco Rodriguez from the New York Mets. Like Sabathia...
