The country may be running out the clock on the Bush administration, but impeachment advocates are hoping that President George W. Bush leaves office sooner than Jan. 1, 2009. Ohio Congressman Dennis Kucinich introduced 35 articles of impeachment in the House of Representatives last week, even though his party leader, Nancy Pelosi, had declared impeachment attempts to be “off the table.”

Imagine if 9/11 had never happened. Would this President and Vice President have gotten away with such a weak case for war in direct opposition to the rest of the world? Would Americans have let our politicians bully and fire independent judges and a CIA agent, set themselves apart from laws with 700 signing statements, alter scientific reports on global warming or strong-arm Attorney General Ashcroft, deathly ill in a hospital, into signing questionable surveillance laws? Bush and Cheney would have been impeached many times over!

Calling for Impeachment is our Constitutional right and totally American. The House called for impeachment of Bill Clinton because he lied about an affair.

Speculation of devious activities by this current administration has gone on for many years now and will continue to linger for many more. So many books have been written about Cheney's heavy-handed, manipulative and ultimately incompetent drive to war.

By blacking out impeachment from the halls of Congress and from the minds of the American populace, the leadership in Congress, with the cooperation of the news media, has betrayed America and our Constitution.

If ever a member of the House needed to be removed from office, it is Nancy Pelosi. As both speaker and a member of the "opposition"
