Miller Time Pub is re-branding itself. The bar, which has sat on 509 W. Wisconsin Avenue since 2001, will now be called the Miller Time Pub and Grill, and will feature an expanded menu that emphasizes craft burgers (17 of them) and beer pairings. Given the business's name and MillerCoors affiliation, it shouldn't be surprising that many of those recommended pairings are Miller products. The Miller...

Terri Lynn’s Express offers Southern cuisine in supper-club setting

The "OPEN" sign wasn't lit up yet. A woman in the crowd gathering in the little strip-mall parking lot was bold enough to broach the lobby, seeing if she could walk in before the 1 p.m. opening time listed in the window

Milwaukee landmark serves food again

In 2010 the restaurant at Turner Hall closed its doors. Quite a shame as the Hall, constructed in 1882, has a lot of charm. The restaurant reopened a few weeks ago and a few improvements have been made. The wood floors

Since 2010, Off the Clock (4301 S. Howell Ave.) has occupied the handsome brick structure with leaded glass windows and dark wainscoting that has filled the corner of Bolivar and Howell for longer than anyone can...

Dale’s Deals in Soups and Sandwiches

Dale’s (6132 W. Capitol Drive), located on a very busy street, has a welcoming façade and a parking lot. Most of the patrons gather in the bar area, a dark room with a few tables, but they come for the food as well as the drinks. The crowd, which tends to be older, finds good value in a menu that...

North Avenue Newcomer

A casual restaurant has opened on the North Avenue strip, between Vitucci’s Lounge and Pizza Man. Located in the former El Chico Zuma, Black & White (1814 E. North Ave.) is a small place with a color scheme that is given away by the restaurant’s name. Instead of table service, you order at the counter. The light menu...

Hamburger Haus

Many people miss the presence of Bella’s Fat Cat at its original location at 1233 E. Brady St. But it didn’t take long for its replacement to open. It is called the Burger Joint and has the same owner as the Dogg Haus, a short distance to the east. The Joint is as devoted to the hamburger as the Haus is to the frankfurter.
