Democrats earned a hard-won victory when they took over the state Assembly in 2008, which allowed them to take control of both houses of the state Legislature as well as the governor’s mansion. But what have they done with that power? Have they enacted progressive policies to help close the disparities between the haves and the have-nots?

The Shepherd Express strongly endorses Democrat Sandra Pasch for the open seat in the 22nd Assembly District, which encompasses the North Shore suburbs and part of Milwaukee. Pasch won the highly competitive Democratic primary in September and is still campaigning hard for the general election.
