River Rhythms w/ Sam Llanas
Sam Llanas, a founding member of Waukesha’s BoDeans, is continuing to forge his own path since splitting from the group in 2011 following disagreements between him and co-founder Kurt Neumann. Llannas’ 2011 solo release 4 a.m. is a collection of unreleased BoDeans songs which he recorded and released on his own. The album continues the BoDeans’ exploration of roots-rock, powered by Llanas’ raspy and impassioned voice which continues to be the most distinctive feature of his music. Often sounding like a higher-pitched Bruce Springsteen, Llanas’ solo acoustic performances have an earthy muscularity that both reassures and uplifts.
