11am-Registration 12:30pm -Walk Afternoon:Awareness_&_Entertainment | Free event - donations welcome

The United Mitochondrial Disease Foundation (UMDF) uses the Energy for Life walk as their national campaign to raise awareness and provide support for those with mitochondrial disorders. The Energy for Life allows participants, especially those who have never heard of mitochondrial disease, to learn about the disease from those who are directly affected. The Energy for Life Walk not only raises awareness, but provides funding for research to find a treatment and cure.

Mitochondria exist in nearly every cell of the human body, producing 90% of the energy the body needs to function. In a person with mitochondrial disease, the mitochondria are failing and cannot adequately convert food and oxygen into life sustaining energy. The severity of symptoms and how the disease manifests itself varies. Mitochondrial disease is complex and not easy to diagnose, most patients suffer symptoms for months or years before they are accurately diagnosed with a mitochondrial disease.

We encourage everyone to walk whether an individual or a team of family and friends.  Bring a picnic & enjoy some entertainment, and overall fellowship and awareness. For more information on joining or donating to our event see our website at www.energyforlifewalk.org/milwaukee. Start a corporate, school or family team today! Your support brings... HOPE...ENERGY...LIFE….
