The National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts (NCECA)
Annual Conference in Milwaukee includes special exhibits and receptions at several local art
and culture venues, including the Jewish Museum Milwaukee (JMM).

Visit JMM between March 16 and 30 to explore contemporary work by several talented artists,
including a NCECA conference and artist reception from 5-9:30 p.m. March 20 at the
museum, 1360 N. Prospect Ave., Milwaukee.

Visitors to this limited engagement exhibit will discover the “Boomtown” series by Washingtonbased
artist Dane Youngren, whose work explores the way society builds structures and
environments to suit its needs. “Food: A Sustainable Table,” consists of work by a group of
Midwest artists organized by Anna Metcalfe and Kip O’Krongly, which comments on how the
industry of food is an incredibly complex web and one that continually impacts our environment
and our lives.

NCECA is hosting its 48th Annual Conference at the Wisconsin Center, 400 W. Wisconsin
Avenue in Milwaukee from March 19 - March 22. A premier event for Milwaukee’s 2014 cultural
calendar, the conference theme, Material World, provides an opportunity to investigate the
complex ways that materials acquire meaning through the things that we make and those that
surround us in our daily lives. NCECA’s exhibitions and programs will expand on traditional
definitions of fine and decorative arts, craft and design in the context of the 21st century.

JMM admission is free for museum members. Non-member price includes both museum and
special exhibit: $6 adult; $5 seniors; $3 students; $15 families. Regular museum hours are 10
am-4 p.m. Monday-Thursday, 10 a.m-2 p.m. Friday and 12 p.m.-4 p.m. Sunday. Call (414) 390-
5730 or visit JewishMuseumMilwaukee.org.
