Milwaukee Ballet presents: Winter Series
Milwaukee Ballet presents a forward-looking, edgy experience with three new works created specifically for Milwaukee in “Winter Series,” Feb. 13 through 16, 2014 at The Pabst Theater.
The three featured choreographers push boundaries and challenge preconceived notions of what dance can be.
“If you’ve never seen dance performed live,” said Milwaukee Ballet Artistic Director Michael Pink, “I enthusiastically invite you to experience this show. The energy of the dancing, the skill of the dancers, the lighting and the intimacy … they all come together to thrill you.”
“Winter Series” will serve-up a premiere work from New York choreographer Gabrielle Lamb, who returns after winning last season’s international choreographic competition, “Genesis.”
Lamb will be joined by Milwaukee Ballet Choreographer-in-Residence Timothy O’Donnell, whose leather-clad “Children of the Wall” brought audiences to their feet last season.
Internationally celebrated Italian choreographer Luca Veggetti makes his Milwaukee debut, offering a meditation on abstract painter Wassily Kandinsky. This world premiere will be presented in partnership with Milwaukee Art Museum.
In contrast to story ballets, the shortened, 20-minute run time of each piece creates a burst of energy and inspiration for the audience to enjoy.
