“Harvest Home,” explores the ideas of harvest and homeland through music from the Renaissance through the present. Composers have understood harvest not just as the end of the year but as a metaphor for the human condition. The themes of homeland lost, longed for and attained have captivated composers for centuries.
The program includes works by Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina, Michael Haydn, Felix Mendelssohn, Johannes Brahms, Giuseppe Verdi, Leonard Bernstein, Graham Nash, Mack Wilberg, Matthew Culloton, Seth Houston and Rollo Dilworth. A reception will follow the performance.
