Frankenstein by 500 Clowns
The South Milwaukee Performing Arts Center presents “Frankenstein,” a monstrous evening of entertainment by Chicago-based 500 Clown, one of eight performing arts groups featured in the 2013-14 Performing Arts Series, on Saturday, October 26 at 7:30 pm.
“Frankenstein” will kick off the season in dramatic style just in time for Halloween. The performers use action-based performance and improvisation to tell a story about how a monster is created, and engage the audience through the use of physical and emotional risk,” says Chad Piechocki, Director.
500 Clown’s “Frankenstein” features three performers who are charged with the task of making a monster. Bound in elaborate Edwardian costumes, the trio embarks on a journey to construct Dr. Frankenstein’s laboratory while they struggle and battle through acrobatic feats. The Chicago Sun-Times describes the performance as “A work of psychic combat and power games that will have you laughing and holding your breath all at the same time.” A tale of Doctor and Monster is told from scraps of the classic novel and Hollywood versions, inviting audience involvement throughout. “Fiercely clever and monstrously funny… a bold, compassionate and often dangerous distillation of Mary Shelley’s horror novel about arrogance, obsession and irresponsibility” (The Daily Herald).
500 Clown’s “Frankenstein” is Saturday, October 26 at 7:30 pm. Tickets are available online at www.southmilwaukeepac.org and at the box office (414) 766-5049 M-F from 10-4.
