The Dodos w/ Cousins
The baroque indie-pop duo The Dodos formed years ago around the friendship of musicians Meric Long and Logan Kroeber. Melding Long’s West African Ewe drumming with Kroeber’s acoustic guitar strumming, they composed percussive, string-laced folk songs with bold, arty arrangements. 2008’s Visiter proved to be their breakthrough album, earning the band critical buzz in Internet circles and also some unlikely exposure in a Miller Chill commercial featuring its single “Fools.” You won’t find any songs from the group’s latest album, Carrier, in a beer commercial. Recorded after the death of ex-Women guitarist Chris Reimer, who had briefly become the third member of the Dodos, it’s a melancholy, reflective affair.
