Fall into The ’50s: Sock Hop & Fall Mum Show
Poodle skirts, cuffed jeans, rocking around the clock–better make that until 10 p.m.–and costume contests come together for the sock-hop kickoff to “Fall into The ’50s,” the fall mum show at The Domes. The fundraising opening, Friday, Sept. 20, from 7-10 p.m., gives an early look at the floral show.
Admission to the fundraiser is $30 per person and includes a set of tickets for food and beverage. Proceeds benefit the educational programs of The Domes. The Domes, Milwaukee’s Living Landmark, is located at 524 S. Layton Blvd.
“‘Fall into the 50s’ is a trip down Memory Lane,” said Sandy Folaron, Director of The Domes. “We have 1950s era actors and musicians–in the form of cutout collages–and a great red and white ’55 Chevy 210 hardtop, decked out with chrome! We’ll also have references to TV shows and pop culture. All of this will be set amid a field of multi-colored chrysanthemums.”
Fans of the chrysanthemum will appreciate the show’s 900 plants, including 10 varieties of daisy forms in hues of yellow, orange, red, and purple.
“Fall into The ’50s,” runs through Nov. 10. The Domes are open weekdays, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. and weekends, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
Tickets to the sock hop are available in the gift shop, online, and at the door. For details on the fundraiser, visit the Friends of The Domes website at milwaukeedomes.org
