Brooklynites Grizzly Bear earned some encouraging reviews for their gorgeously folky 2006 album Yellow House
, but it wasn’t until 2009’s Veckatimest
that they became indie-rock royalty. For that strikingly ambitious album, they re-contextualized American music from all different eras, drawing from gentle, waltzing folk, jazzy soft rock and Beach Boys-inspired psychedelia. Those experiments served as the building blocks for their latest album, 2012’s Shields
, a likeminded affair that saw the group continue to challenge themselves with even more intricate arrangements. The band shares this bill with violinist and composer Owen Pallett, who has supplied string accompaniments for indie acts like Arcade Fire and Beirut and is expected to release his latest album, In Conflict
, this spring.
