A few weeks ago, UWM announced that Koonce had been placed on administrative leave for a personal matter and didn't elaborate. Now, Koonce officially resigned via a letter from a lawyer. The reason given is that his wife died in October and he is now the primary caretaker of their two children. Here's the J-S article on it
