John Forte
Tonight @ Shank Hall, 8 p.m.
One-time Fugees cohort John Forte was one of rap’s more promising rising stars in the late ’90s, but after his 1998 solo album flopped Forte was arrested for transferring drugs and sentenced to 14 years in federal prison. An unlikely commutation for President Bush gave Forte his freedom in 2008, and ever since he’s continued making music, albeit drastically different music that owes more to contemporary singer-songwriters than traditional hip-hop. Tonight Forte speaks his mind at a solo acoustic show at Shank Hall.

The show was so intimate and lovely. He is so talented. John Forte is amazing. The opener Marque was good too. reminds me of Ben Harper. I look forward to getting John Forte's new album that he said he just recorded. It was very different from his poly sci stuff. awesome!
john forte is so different now. rocking with the greatest nonetheless. mad lyrics. off the hook.
The first act Marque was a good dood. good voice and real emotional - lots of passion. good show. should have a dj after the final set so we could chill.
