Short Orders (Sobelman's Tallgrass Grill)
Sobelman’s Burgers Get Even Better
The name Sobelman’s Tallgrass Grill (1952 N. Farwell Ave.) will ring a bell with anyone who loves a good hamburger. In the ’90s, Dave Sobelman transformed his namesake bar at the rim of the Menomonee River Valley into a destination point on the strength of his burgers. The ones served at the Tallgrass Grill are even better. The difference? Sobelman’s original hamburger comes from corn-fed beef. Problem? Cows weren’t made to eat corn. Grass is their natural food. Grassfed remains a bit more expensive, but customers get more for their money—literally. Meatier and bigger because they contain less fat and shrink less, they sit on a perfect country butter roll, with an egg-wash glaze, from Breadsmith.

My husband and I have been loyal customers to the Tallgrass Grill for the past couple of months, especially for delivery. Although I was a bit annoyed at first when the first several deliveries took over an hour to arrive, I just planned ahead for future orders because I liked the burgers so much.
Last night was different, and I'll never order from here again! My burger had several small pieces of a toothpick mixed in with the meat. I had remembered to take out the toothpick holding the burger together for delivery - this was actually pieces of another toothpick in the sandwich meat! There were about 4 pieces, most pointy, and most about a half an inch or less in length. When I took a bite that had several small pieces of wood in it, my husband called to complain.
Unfortunately, this is not where the story ends. The person on the phone claimed to be the owner, although I seriously doubt that was the case. He said his name was Dave. When my husband insisted the toothpick in my sandwich was not the toothpick placed to hold the sandwich together, he said "Come on man, it's my birthday and I'm flipping burgers!" After my husband insisted and continued to complain, Dave finally agreed to send a replacement burger. We sent the sandwich and the toothpick portions back when the driver arrived 45 minutes later.
I sooooooo agree worst service in the world!!!
