Racine Art Museum
A leader in fine crafts
Located
a block west of the renovated harbor on Lake Michigan’s shoreline, The Racine
Art Museum occupies a reinvented department store in the city’s historic
downtown. The original display windows honor this legacy by featuring national
artists with artwork that changes quarterly. Inside the visitor discovers one
of America’s top three Fine Craft museums placing craft in the context of
contemporary fine art. Through two floors the museum houses an extensive and
ever growing permanent collection, which includes exquisite baskets, witty
sculptures, intricate jewelry and artistic teapots, often featured with related
new artwork from national traveling exhibitions.Every month Free First Fridays at
the RAM host hands on projects in the evening or over the weekend coordinating
with the exhibits while also providing an expansive schedule of studio art
classes for every age.
