Over the years, the original Miller High Life Jazz Oasis morphed into the Miller Lite Oasis, making it possible for a breakout rock band like Imagine Dragons to bring its brand of anthemic music to the masses. In fact, few groups can claim a mythical rise as epic as that of Imagine Dragons’ flight from obscurity to headliners. This Las Vegas-based quartet, unjustly compared to Coldplay, performed at Summerfest’s U.S. Cellular Connection Stage last year in an opening-act slot and then sold out the Eagles Ballroom in March. The band released three EPs on its own and toured relentlessly before signing with Interscope Records and releasing Night Visions last September. Rife with righteous arena rock songs like “It’s Time” and “Radioactive,” the album soared to No. 2 on the Billboard 200 chart. “There’s going to be new things, different elements,” guitarist Wayne Sermon told the Broward-Palm Beach New Times in May, referring to the current version of the Night Visions Tour. “There will be a 300-pound Taiko drum. It’s 5 feet by 3 feet, and [singer] Dan [Reynolds] hits a lot of drums, brings a lot of energy onstage. This is our biggest show and production we have ever done. Going all out.
