Club Garibaldi, one of Bay View’s most inclusive corner taps, doesn’t market its kitchen much, but it lays claim to one of the city’s most satisfying (and most overlooked) inexpensive burgers, a plump, immensely flavorful patty topped with lettuce, tomato and red onion and served with a pile of crispy fries—the mushroom, Swiss and bacon versions are even richer. Spicy chicken and pork-chop sandwiches, both smothered in toppings, also hit the mark, and the wings easily rank among the city’s best. Large and perfectly spiced, each is grilled until it develops a tasty char and more flavor than its greasier, deep-fried counterparts could ever offer.
